Mule Deer - Common to Western North America (Kansas included). Named for their large ears shaped like those of a mule. Bison - Large mammals crucial to prairies for their ability to control the vegetation and provide nutrients to the ground (manure / urine). Bobcat - Small to medium sized predators with excellent vision. Found in all North America. Coyote - Small predator also native to North America. Feeds on rabbits, rodents, birds, and deer (in packs). |
